The video, recorded from the Don Francisco Express, shows the Sajuta V ahead just moments before disaster struck.

It is believed that one of the drivers attempted to steer their vessel in a last-minute effort to avoid the inevitable.

However, the attempt was unsuccessful, and the Don Francisco Express slammed into the Sajuta V, tearing through its side.

The force of the collision shattered windows and ripped through the middle of the smaller boat, leaving it severely damaged.

Emergency responders rushed the injured passengers to a nearby hospital for urgent medical care.

The crash took place around 9:30 a.m. on February 11 on the Ucayali River, northeast of Lima, Peru.

The Sajuta V had been en route from Contamana, in the Loreto region, to Pucallpa when it was struck.

The accident happened at a well-traveled location known as the Panaillo Island curve, an area frequently used by boats navigating the river.

Authorities have since launched an investigation into the incident, according to vknews24.

Footage of the crash has been handed over to the Puerto de Pucallpa Captaincy as officials work to determine the precise cause of the collision.
