Jax Taylor Defends Brittany Cartwright After His Cocaine Revelation, Hints at Issues Besides Addiction

Jax Taylor Opens Up About His Cocaine Addiction and Split from Brittany Cartwright
Airing His Truth
In a recent episode of his podcast, In The Mind of a Man, Jax Taylor shared his struggles with cocaine addiction and its impact on his relationship with Brittany Cartwright. Now 45 and over 80 days sober, Taylor expressed his regret and concern for Cartwright, stating, “I don’t really care what anybody thought except for Brittany. To be honest, I just wanted to make sure she was happy.” He acknowledged the pain he caused her, admitting that it was “probably very hurtful” for her to hear about his addiction.
The Depths of His Addiction
Earlier this month, Taylor revealed that his battle with substance abuse began when he was 23 and has been a recurring issue ever since. He described the past year as the hardest of his life, exacerbated by his separation from Cartwright in 2024. He confessed that during their divorce, his addiction worsened, leading him to lose control and ultimately seek rehab. This period marked a turning point for Taylor, who now speaks openly about hitting rock bottom and his journey towards recovery.
Brittany Cartwright Speaks Out
Cartwright, who shares a 3-year-old son, Cruz, with Taylor, defended herself against any blame regarding his addiction. She expressed her own struggles and efforts to support him, stating, “His addiction unfortunately has done irreparable damage to my son and I. I’ve spent years trying to help him.” She also addressed criticism about staying in the relationship, explaining, “You can’t help who you fell in love with. I’ve done absolutely everything in my power to get him the help he desperately needed.”
Taylor Acknowledges Cartwright’s Efforts
Taylor emphasized that Cartwright was not at fault for his addiction, saying, “She should not be getting any kind of flak for this whatsoever. She’s an amazing mother. She’s an amazing person and she was pushed to her limits.” He also hinted at other issues in their relationship unrelated to his addiction that contributed to their split. Cartwright corroborated these underlying problems on her podcast, When Reality Hits, expressing frustration over his behavior and the challenges she faced.
The End of a Relationship
Both Taylor and Cartwright have spoken about the challenges that led to their separation. Taylor admitted to pushing her to her limits, while Cartwright described feeling exhausted and betrayed by his broken promises. Despite their efforts, the relationship ultimately ended, leaving both to navigate their separate paths, with Cartwright stating, “I’m in a much better place now.”
Moving Forward
Taylor and Cartwright continue to share their experiences publicly, aiming to shed light on the complexities of addiction and relationship struggles. Their stories highlight the difficulty of maintaining a relationship amidst personal battles and the strength required to move forward after a split. Both are focused on their individual healing journeys, seeking to build healthier and more fulfilling lives for themselves and their son.
