Lauren Graham’s ‘The Z-Suite’ Character Jokes She ‘Fixed’ Herself After Going to Therapy Once (Exclusive)

Lauren Graham Stars in Tubi’s Hilarious New Comedy The Z-Suite
Lauren Graham’s latest role in The Z-Suite on Tubi is nothing short of brilliant. Her character, Monica, is a force to be reckoned with, especially after a transformative therapy session that seems to have it all figured out. In an exclusive clip from the February 27 episode, Mark McKinney’s character, George, drops a bombshell that shakes up the dynamics of the boutique ad agency. He announces that he’s opening up the campaign to pitches, declaring that the best idea will win. Kriska, played by Madison Shamoun, is caught off guard, but George stands firm, pointing out that while her initial ideas were impressive, her recent work hasn’t been up to par.
Monica, on the other hand, is undaunted by the challenge. Despite George’s warning not to get too excited, she exudes confidence, even after being called out for some of her recent mishaps, like crashing a Bat Mitzvah and embarrassing herself online. George humorously remarks that such behavior is better left to divorced women showing off their new tattoos. However, Monica isn’t fazed, proudly declaring that she’s fixed herself after just one therapy session. This exchange showcases the witty banter and generational clashes that make The Z-Suite a standout comedy.
The show, which premiered earlier this month, is Tubi’s first original scripted comedy series. It follows a boutique ad agency in New York City, delving into the hilarious and often chaotic interactions between C-Suite executives and Gen Z employees. The series boasts a talented ensemble cast, including Lauren Graham, Madison Shamoun, Mark McKinney, Nico Santos, Spencer Stevenson, Anna Bezahler, and Rhys Darby. Each character brings their own unique perspective, creating a dynamic that is both relatable and laugh-out-loud funny.
Lauren Graham was immediately drawn to the project, revealing to TV Insider that she read the script in a hotel lobby and knew she had to be a part of it. She expressed her excitement about joining a half-hour comedy and collaborating with writer Katie O’Brien. Graham was particularly intrigued by the opportunity to explore the generational conflicts in the workplace. Her character, Monica, embodies the frustration of an experienced professional dealing with younger, overly confident colleagues who seem to bypass the traditional dues-paying process.
Graham’s portrayal of Monica is both authentic and endearing. She shared her own feelings about confidence, admitting that even after years in the industry, she still grapples with it. This vulnerability makes her character all the more relatable and her performance all the more compelling. The show’s blend of humor and heart allows for a nuanced exploration of the challenges and opportunities that arise when different generations collide in the professional world.
Catch The Z-Suite every Thursday on Tubi for a dose of laughter and insight into the ups and downs of modern workplace dynamics. With its talented cast, witty dialogue, and relatable themes, this new comedy is sure to resonate with audiences of all ages.
