An influencer in Russia was left reeling after doctors discovered a metal spring lodged in her lung—an object she believes was a remnant from a prior surgery.

Ekaterina Badulina, 34, initially sought medical attention for what appeared to be common cold symptoms, including fever, chills, and a runny nose.

However, her condition quickly worsened, prompting fears that she had developed pneumonia.

Upon arrival at the emergency room, doctors ordered an X-ray that revealed an alarming find.

“They got me in for a lung X-ray,” Ekaterina recounted.

“After taking the image, doctors suddenly rushed over to me.

It turns out that in the picture, they saw some kind of metal spring measuring 5×16 mm in the lung.”

To investigate further, medical staff conducted a CT scan, confirming the presence of the foreign object.

Doctors believe the metal coil likely migrated to her lung following a previous surgical procedure.

Ekaterina explained that she had undergone extensive medical treatment at age 27, following a life-threatening thromboembolism—a condition where a blood clot blocks a blood vessel.

During that period, she had 33 shunts placed in her leg and endured roughly 20 surgeries over the span of a year.

“A few years ago, I was driving when I suddenly felt pain in my legs, stomach, and shortness of breath.

It turned out to be thromboembolism.

Miraculously, I managed to survive,” she said.

The recent revelation of the spring’s migration left her stunned.

“After all the examinations, they said a spring from the past operation had moved through my bloodstream, and apparently, I didn’t even feel it.

They said I could die at any second,” Ekaterina shared with local media on December 16.

Despite the distressing news, she has chosen to focus on staying optimistic while awaiting further medical decisions.

“After hearing it had moved, I had to take control of my thoughts and emotions.

Focusing only on optimism, not fear or despondency,” she said.

Her perspective on life remains unshaken.

“Anyone can die at any second; no one knows what will happen tomorrow.

And that is the attitude to live with,” she concluded.
