A woman consumed by jealousy is now facing attempted murder charges after allegedly setting off an explosion inside her husband’s alleged lover’s shop in a Brazilian shopping mall.

Authorities arrested 33-year-old Dayanna Gomes after a blast tore through the store in Campos dos Goytacazes, a city in the northeast of Rio de Janeiro.

Security footage captured a woman dressed in a black T-shirt, cap, and beige trousers casually walking past the clothing store before returning moments later, removing her rucksack, and stepping inside.

Seconds later, a powerful explosion erupted, sending debris flying across the concourse, narrowly missing two passing women.

Two terrified customers were seen sprinting out of the shop as flames engulfed the interior.

Gomes was eventually tracked down to her mother’s house in Vila Nova de Colares, a four-to-five-hour drive away, where she was arrested on Monday, February 10.

She was transferred to a women’s prison in Campos dos Goytacazes the following day, while police seized her mother’s phone as part of the investigation.

Jealousy turned explosive—Dayanna Gomes allegedly torched her husband's lover's shop, sparking chaos in a Brazilian mall. Four injured, one critical.

As she was taken into custody, Gomes appeared unrepentant, reportedly telling officers: “I’m at peace.

I’ll do my time properly. It’s all good.

I only ask forgiveness from the people I really hurt, the ones who had nothing to do with it, and those who got burned.

That’s it, nothing more. I don’t regret a thing.”

Authorities expect to charge her with four counts of attempted murder.

Besides the shop owner, three others inside the store were injured in the blast, with one victim still in critical condition in the hospital.

According to police chief Carla Tavares, Gomes admitte

d during questioning that revenge was her primary motive.

“I came here to destroy my husband’s mistress’s shop,” she allegedly confessed.

Gomes claimed she had known the woman since she was 19, and investigators have uncovered a history of disputes between the two, including a police report filed earlier this year for bodily harm.

When reporters asked if she intended to harm or kill the woman, Gomes insisted: “No.

I just wanted to do something to the shop.”

However, police argue that by igniting the blaze, she knowingly endangered multiple lives.

The alleged mistress, meanwhile, has denied any romantic involvement with Gomes’s husband, who is currently serving time for drug trafficking.

The fire, which broke out on February 4, spread to six neighboring stores, leaving business owners struggling to recover from the extensive damage.

Authorities are now awaiting a forensic report to determine the exact substance used to start the inferno.

The mall’s second floor remained shut for nearly a week before reopening to customers on Monday.
