The 2024 Ou River Summit took place in Wenzhou, China, from October 18-19, attracting government officials, scientists, business leaders, and international delegates who gathered to discuss sustainable energy strategies. Under the theme “Green Forward,” the summit highlighted the latest in clean energy innovations and sustainability solutions within the electric power sector.
As part of the event, CHINT marked its 40th anniversary, celebrating its growth from a small family workshop in 1984 into a global force within the electricity and renewable energy industries. CHINT Chairman Cunhui Nan expressed the company’s commitment to continued innovation, stating, “We will continue to drive development with smart energy at the core, ensuring our corporate transformation supports sustainable growth in the electricity and new energy sectors.”
An additional feature of the summit was the 2nd China-Europe-Africa Green Energy Development Forum. This forum aimed to foster collaboration between China, Europe, and Africa on green energy projects, with a focus on identifying untapped potential for industry partnerships. A range of participants attended, including CHINT’s international customers in fields spanning transmission, new energy, engineering, and housing. They also toured CHINT’s factories and project sites, where they experienced CHINT’s technological capabilities firsthand.
Sam Fais, a long-term CHINT partner, praised the company’s proactive environmental focus, noting, “CHINT is decisively moving towards a greener future. Their commitment to environmental protection on a global scale will have a major impact.”
Fabrizio Costa, a former economic and financial counselor at the Italian Embassy, visited CHINT’s facilities in Wenzhou and Shanghai. Impressed by the factory conditions, he commented, “The work environment and quality standards are remarkable. CHINT has significant growth potential, not only in China but on a global level.”
With operations in over 140 countries, CHINT’s international footprint continues to expand, offering a diverse range of services, including low voltage solutions, power transmission, water and gas metering, and green energy innovations. Looking to the future, the company plans to advance its smart grid capabilities, develop AI-based energy management systems, and create advanced energy storage solutions to support the global shift toward renewable power.
CHINT’s goals include reaching carbon neutrality across its operations by 2030. The company also aims to incorporate sustainable practices throughout its supply chain, aligning with global efforts to reduce carbon emissions and increase energy efficiency.
Reflecting on this milestone year, Lily Zhang, President of CHINT Global, stated, “2024 marks a significant moment for CHINT as we celebrate becoming a leading provider of intelligent energy solutions. This achievement is the result of our team’s dedication and commitment to excellence. Looking forward, I’m excited about our path ahead, particularly in tackling industry challenges like decarbonisation.”
With this anniversary, CHINT emphasised its commitment to analysing and adapting to market trends, which has helped it secure high-quality partnerships worldwide. As CHINT continues to innovate and expand, the company looks forward to the next 40 years, aiming to maintain its position as a pioneer in the global energy landscape.
