FBC Manby Bowdler, a Midlands-based law firm, is celebrating the recognition of more than 25 of its lawyers in the prestigious Legal 500 UK rankings for 2025. The firm has seen a number of its teams and individuals secure high accolades in one of the legal industry’s most respected guides, solidifying its reputation for excellence.
Among the firm’s top achievers are Guy Birkett and Charlotte Clode, both partners in the commercial litigation department, who have retained their top rankings. They were joined by Susan Todhunter, also named as a Leading Individual, which is the highest accolade a lawyer can achieve in the Legal 500. Todhunter, who leads the firm’s personal injury and clinical negligence teams, was singled out for her exceptional work in Wolverhampton.
Managing Partner Neil Lloyd expressed his pride in the firm’s performance in this year’s rankings, noting that the recognition reflects not only the expertise within FBC Manby Bowdler but also the firm’s commitment to client service. “We are delighted that so many of our talented lawyers have been acknowledged in the 2025 Legal 500,” Lloyd said. “Client feedback, which plays a key role in these rankings, has highlighted the approachability, knowledge, and professionalism of our teams.”
The rankings also saw new faces earning recognition. Christopher Bate, a member of the wills, trusts, and probate team, secured his first-ever listing as a Next Generation Partner, a significant milestone in his career. Similarly, Angie Manley and Kimberly Mears from the contentious trusts and probate team, along with Elisabeth Glover from commercial litigation, retained their positions as Leading Associates.
Several of the firm’s key departments also received high praise. The wills, trusts, and probate team earned strong rankings, with special mentions for lawyers including Kim Carr, Graham Fuller, Sara Simson, Christina Polychronakis, and Deborah Beal. The family law and agriculture and estates teams were placed in the top tier, reflecting the breadth and depth of expertise FBC Manby Bowdler offers its clients.
In addition to Todhunter’s individual recognition, her team’s personal injury department was commended for being “supportive, caring, and extremely professional.” The department is jointly led by Todhunter and Tim Gray. The firm’s corporate recovery and insolvency teams also performed strongly, with standout mentions for Gareth Ruddock, James Sage, and Claire Bentick.
Litigation specialist Andrew Oranjuik and personal injury experts Adam Wilson and Michael Portman-Hann were also highlighted in this year’s rankings. The firm’s agricultural and rural services team, led by partners Sarah Baugh and Tom Devey, received significant recognition, with Baugh and Devey named Leading Individuals in their field.
Planning specialist Suzanne Tucker saw her ranking elevated from Rising Star to Next Generation Partner, reflecting her continued development and impact in her field.
