In the video, vehicles are shown queued on a narrow, two-way mountain highway as they wait for traffic to clear. A white van is visible in front of the ill-fated pickup truck, both at a standstill.
Without warning, a colossal boulder hurtles down from the mountainside, slamming directly onto the truck’s roof.
The impact completely crushes the vehicle, mangling the metalwork and flipping it onto its side.
Just moments before the boulder struck, the truck’s driver can be briefly seen shifting in their seat, unaware of the impending disaster.
The massive rock, nearly the size of the pickup itself, left the truck in ruins and no movement was seen afterward.
Cars in the queue ahead, including the van, quickly fled the scene, accelerating away from the chaos.
The driver of another vehicle further back managed to record the horrific moment on their dashcam, providing a grim account of the freak accident.
The crash occurred on Monday, December 2, on a remote highway in Peru’s mountainous Valochiri region.
According to reports from vknews24, the truck carried four occupants at the time—three of whom, tragically, died instantly.
The driver was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Local sources later confirmed that all those involved in the tragedy were of Chinese and Taiwanese descent.
The group had reportedly been visiting Peru on a business trip when they became the victims of the fatal rockslide.
Officials from Taiwan and China have yet to release further details about the victims or the circumstances of the accident.
The incident serves as a sobering reminder of the unpredictable dangers posed by landslides in mountainous areas, particularly during the region’s rainy season.
