The alarming scene was witnessed by the reporter on the other end of the call, who quickly raised the alarm. Employees at the TV station acted swiftly, reporting the incident to authorities.
Thanks to their prompt action, local police were able to respond quickly, locating the couple at a residence in the municipality of Huitzilac, near Cuernavaca.
Thankfully, neither Zahie nor Alberto suffered any physical harm during the ordeal.
Both were given precautionary medical check-ups before being safely escorted back to their home in Mexico City, where they are now recovering from the incident.
Authorities have arrested one individual in connection with the crime.
The suspect was apprehended while driving the couple’s vehicle, which had been stolen during the abduction.
The incident, which occurred on the morning of November 23, prompted a statement from Miguel Ángel Urrutia Lozana, head of the Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection.
He explained how the kidnapping was discovered and resolved.
“We received information from Imagen media that a social media personality was being interviewed when it was reported that her freedom had been taken away while on the road.
A suspicious vehicle was later identified in Cuernavaca. One person was arrested, and the two victims were freed,” he said.
The swift actions of both media workers and law enforcement ensured a positive outcome in what could have been a far graver situation.
