The incident took place at the Yandangshan Scenic Area, south of Shanghai in China.
Staff rushed to her aid upon finding her on the ground, while authorities immediately suspended the cable car service to conduct thorough inspections before reopening.
The yellow cable car, with “Welcome to Yandang Mountain Cableway” written in Chinese on its window, had been carrying both the woman and another man.
Footage showed the man sitting next to the open door, reportedly making a phone call to alert officials that the woman had fallen.
According to authorities, the accident was triggered by strong winds that caused a technical malfunction, resulting in the door opening unexpectedly.
The mishap occurred shortly after the gondola had left the station on Tuesday, October 1.
The woman is currently recovering, and an investigation into the incident is underway.
