A missing cat has made an emotional return to its delighted owners two years after it mysteriously disappeared.
Heather MacLachlan had grown accustomed to her 17-year-old cat, Bailey, venturing outdoors despite his age.
Even though Bailey was elderly—roughly 84 in human years—he still had a taste for adventure.

But one evening, Bailey didn’t come back, leaving Heather and his feline brother, Scooby, devastated, as reported by VKNews24.com.
Heather posted flyers all over town, but there was no trace of her cherished pet.
“Since we rescued them [Bailey and his brother] at one year old, they had only ever spent two nights apart,” said Heather, 47, from Forth Valley, Stirling, Scotland.
“We were heartbroken when he vanished, and his brother was lost without him for a long time.
“We searched everywhere for Bailey and left his bed at the door, hoping he might catch the scent.
“We put up posters, contacted the vet to spread the word, and reached out to Petlog, but there was no sign of him.”
After nearly giving up hope of ever seeing Bailey again, Heather was taken aback when someone shared an online post claiming they had spotted the cat living under the deck of a neighbour’s garden.
She contacted the homeowner and was overjoyed to confirm that it was indeed Bailey.
After carefully coaxing the cat out from his hiding spot, Heather immediately took him to the vet, where his identity was confirmed via his microchip.
Though Bailey’s fur had become matted and had to be shaved off, he was otherwise in good shape.
Now, Heather is sharing her story to inspire other pet owners not to lose hope.
She added: “Don’t give up.
“We never thought this would happen, especially with him being so old, but he’s back—the wanderer has returned!”
