Motorcyclist, 37, killed in attack by escaped rhino

A motorcyclist tragically lost his life after being attacked by a runaway rhino.

Saddam Hussain came to a halt when he encountered the two-tonne animal standing in his path.

The massive rhino suddenly charged at him, prompting Saddam to abandon his motorbike and flee down an embankment in an attempt to escape.

Local residents shouted in a desperate attempt to scare the animal away, even chasing after it, but the rhino trampled the 37-year-old man.

After the attack, the rhino was seen fleeing the scene while Saddam lay injured in a nearby field. Forest Range Officer Nayan Jyoti Das later confirmed that he succumbed to his injuries.

Saddam had been riding his motorcycle from Mayong to Chamata, India, at the time of the tragic encounter. He was a resident of the Sonapur Kachutali area in Kamrup.

The rhino had escaped from the Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary, and the fatal incident took place near Haduk Bridge. Authorities have since launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the escape and the attack.
