Roxanne Perez on the Cusp of History at NXT Vengeance Day

This Saturday night, Roxanne Perez stands on the brink of history as she competes in a highly anticipated fatal four-way match for the NXT Women’s Championship at Vengeance Day. The 23-year-old superstar has the opportunity to etch her name in the record books by becoming the first three-time NXT Women’s Champion, a feat that has eluded even the likes of legends like Charlotte Flair and Shayna Baszler before their main roster call-ups. Perez will face off against the current champion, Giulia, as well as WWE veteran Bayley and the rising star Cora Jade in what promises to be an explosive and unforgettable match.

Perez’s road to this moment has been nothing short of remarkable. Fresh from her groundbreaking performance at the Royal Rumble, where she became the longest-lasting competitor in the event’s history, she has proven time and time again that she is a force to be reckoned with. Her determination and focus are evident as she sets her sights on the ultimate goal of capturing the NXT Women’s Championship for a historic third time. However, Perez has admitted that she felt a pang of disappointment when NXT General Manager Ava Raine turned her scheduled title match into a fatal four-way following Cora Jade’s victory over Bayley on the final show before Vengeance Day. Despite this setback, Perez remains laser-focused on her mission to make history.

The rivalry between Perez and Bayley has been a highlight of recent weeks, with the young prodigy taking a playful yet effective approach to getting under Bayley’s skin. In a clever move, Perez dressed up as Bayley’s old “Hugger” gimmick during a recent segment, a tactic that clearly ruffled her opponent’s feathers. “It’s so much fun,” Perez remarked with a grin. “Did you see the look on her face when I came out as her little old ‘Hugger’ Bayley? I think I got to her. She may have got me after, but I think I definitely got to her. But it’s been very fun.” This lighthearted yet competitive dynamic has added an extra layer of excitement to their feud, showcasing Perez’s ability to blend humor and intensity in the ring.

For Perez, stepping into the ring with Bayley is a childhood dream come true. “I feel like I kind of manifested this since I was a kid,” she shared. “In the past few years, I’ve been saying I want to step in the ring with Bayley. She’s one of my dream opponents, dream matches.” Now that the opportunity has finally arrived, Perez is determined to prove that she is not just a rising star but a superior talent. “I got to prove to her that ‘The Prodigy’ is just a little better, it’s way, way better,” she confidently declared. This match is not just about personal validation for Perez; it’s about cementing her legacy as one of the all-time greats in NXT’s women’s division.

The NXT Women’s Championship holds a special place in Perez’s heart, and for good reason. Winning the title for the first time on December 13, 2022, was a defining moment in her career, solidifying her as one of the best wrestlers in WWE. “Means everything to me,” she said of the championship. “I think winning it the first time, I definitely solidified myself as one of the best wrestlers that WWE has. I solidified myself as ‘The Prodigy.’ And it was the first title I won in WWE, my first singles title. Every single thing, every hurdle, every hard thing that I went through to get here, that proved to me that every single thing was worth it.”

Perez’s journey to this point has been far from easy, but her unwavering passion and dedication have set her apart. After losing the title in a six-way ladder match at NXT Stand & Deliver 2023, she rebounded to regain it at Stand & Deliver 2024, defeating Lyra Valkyria. However, her reign was cut short when Giulia, the current champion, defeated her at New Year’s Evil in 2025. Despite these setbacks, Perez remains driven by her belief that the championship belongs to her. “I don’t think that there’s one girl on that roster that loves that title more than me, that wants the title more than me,” she said. “So, that’s exactly why I’m going to become a three-time NXT women’s champion, and I’m going to take the women’s championship straight to RAW, straight to SmackDown, and maybe, if I decide to vacate it, somebody else will have a chance. But I don’t know. I think it belongs to me. Giulia’s just holding it for now.”

As Vengeance Day approaches, the NXT Universe is buzzing with excitement. The event, taking place in Washington, D.C., at 6 p.m. ET, promises to deliver a stacked card filled with high-stakes matches. In addition to the fatal four-way for the NXT Women’s Championship, fans can look forward to a thrilling NXT Championship match between Obama Femi, Austin Theory, and Grayson Waller. Fallon Henley will face Stephanie Vaquer for the NXT North American Championship, while Trick Williams and Eddy Thorpe will clash in a brutal strap match. The tag team division will also be on full display as Nathan Frazer and Axiom take on Josh Briggs and Yoshiki Inamura for the NXT Tag Team Championship. Rounding out the card is a highly anticipated singles match between Je’Von Evans and Ethan Page.

For Roxanne Perez, Vengeance Day is more than just another event—it’s a chance to etch her name in the annals of NXT history. With her sights set on becoming the first three-time NXT Women’s Champion, she is ready to prove once again why she is “The Prodigy” of WWE. As the world watches, one thing is certain: Roxanne Perez is primed to leave an indelible mark on the NXT women’s division and beyond.
