Verizon Offers Discounted Internet With Extra Perks to Its Mobile Customers

Verizon Expands Discount Offer for Internet and Mobile Bundles
Verizon is broadening its discount offer for 5G Home internet to all customers on a monthly mobile plan, providing a $15 monthly discount. This discount was previously exclusive to those who signed up for both internet and select mobile plans. The expansion allows more customers to enjoy this benefit, making their cheapest home internet plan available for as low as $35. Additionally, Verizon offers entertainment perks like Netflix and HBO for $10 each, halving the usual cost.
Relaunching Plans with Added Perks
In June 2023, Verizon relaunched its mobile plans as myPlan and home internet as myHome, introducing à la carte perks. Frank Boulben, a Verizon executive, emphasized this strategy to converge services, offering great value. The discount applies to all home internet plans, with premium users receiving an extra $10 perk, switchable monthly. This approach aims to enhance customer satisfaction with added benefits.
Strategic Move to Increase Customer Loyalty
The discount is part of Verizon’s strategy to upsell current mobile users to bundle services, rather than attract competitors’ customers. Most fixed wireless users are already Verizon mobile subscribers, highlighting the success of this cross-selling approach. Boulben noted that this strategy focuses on customer loyalty and service integration.
Growing Subscriber Base with Fixed Wireless Internet
As of October 2024, Verizon had 4.6 million fixed wireless subscribers, with growth skewed towards wireless. Their fiber service covers 18 million households, mainly in the Northeast, with plans to expand further. Fixed wireless, available in 60 million locations, is a key area of focus for future growth and customer acquisition.
Clearing Up Confusions About Fixed Wireless
Some customers confuse Verizon’s fixed wireless with mobile hotspots, but it’s a full home internet replacement. Verizon aims to clarify this, emphasizing the reliability of fixed wireless as an alternative to traditional wired internet. This educational effort is crucial for increasing adoption.
Future Expansion and Service Availability
Verizon plans to expand FIOS to more households in 2025 and beyond, while promoting fixed wireless as a viable option. The focus remains on educating users about their services and offering incentives to bundle, ensuring continued growth and customer satisfaction in the competitive market.
