A barber customer became an unexpected hero when he leapt to the aid of a police officer being attacked—cape and all—right in the middle of his haircut.
Kyle Whiting was at Haron Barber’s in Warrington, Cheshire, when he noticed a commotion outside near a bus stop.
A man wearing a black jacket and grey hoodie had launched a violent assault on a lone officer, striking him and forcing him to the ground.

Without a second thought, Kyle dashed outside with his barber’s cape still tied around his neck.
He quickly intervened, pulling the attacker off the officer as other bystanders began to gather and assist.
Moments later, reinforcements arrived, with one officer sprinting from a nearby police car and another squad vehicle pulling up on Lovely Lane.
The dramatic incident unfolded on Tuesday, December 17, at 11:40 a.m. The officer involved sustained a broken finger and rib injuries during the scuffle.
Recalling the moment, Kyle said, “I was in the chair, getting the back of my head shaved.
The barber stopped, stared in the mirror for about 10 seconds, then went to the window and started recording.
I got up—it all happened so fast.”
Kyle, who has a sister working as a police officer, added, “I’m just grateful I could help and that no one else got hurt.
If my sister was ever in a situation like this, I’d hope someone would step in to help her too, as long as it’s safe. No one gets paid enough to be punched in the face—unless you’re Conor McGregor.”
The incident quickly went viral after UK Cop Humour shared footage of Kyle’s heroic act, joking, “Not all heroes wear capes…but this one does.
Let’s take a moment to applaud this fella—mid-haircut, no less—dashing out to help a copper.
Not enough people like you out there.”
A spokesperson for Cheshire Constabulary thanked Kyle for his courageous intervention, saying, “The incident occurred around 11:40 a.m. in the Lovely Lane area.
During the assault, a member of the public from a nearby hairdresser’s intervened to assist the officer.
A 50-year-old man was arrested at the scene and has since been referred to health professionals.”
The video and Kyle’s quick-thinking actions have earned widespread praise, showcasing how one Good Samaritan’s bravery can make a world of difference—even in the middle of a haircut.
