A laid-back shoplifter casually swiped a sandwich from Greggs before strolling off without a hint of urgency.
The incident took place at the popular bakery’s King Street branch in Hammersmith, west London, on Tuesday, November 19.
Dressed in a blue coat, the thief was seen browsing inside the store before nonchalantly grabbing a sandwich from the shelves.

Instead of rushing out or attempting to conceal the theft, he calmly exited through the front door and sauntered down the street, leaving onlookers both stunned and bemused.
The thief’s unhurried approach to stealing seemed to work in his favor, as he managed to get away without any confrontation.
A passer-by recorded the event on their phone, later sharing the footage with the outlet vknews24.
Witnesses nearby couldn’t believe the audacity of the scene.
Jason, a local resident, joked about the swift getaway, saying, “Good job no one chased after him. He was gone in a flash.”
Another person added, “Quick getaway, to be fair. No wonder they couldn’t catch him.”
Meanwhile, Andrew Hart took a swipe at authorities, remarking, “Police are far too busy monitoring social media posts.”
The unusual theft sparked a range of responses online, with some blaming the rising cost of living.
One person quipped, “Fair play to him, the steak bakes are three times smaller nowadays,” while another joked about potential consequences for others, saying, “If I even thought about doing what he did, I’d be up in court and facing years in prison before I could enjoy my pie.”
Others used the moment to criticize price increases, with one commenting, “Ask yourself about the price rises.”
Greggs and the Metropolitan Police have been contacted for comment but have yet to issue a statement.
This bizarre sandwich heist is just one in a string of similar incidents, as the ongoing cost-of-living crisis has seen shoplifting on the rise.
Last week, another thief targeted a Greggs in Norwood Junction, south London, making off with nine drinks.
