A 17-year-old boy is in critical condition after being stabbed in broad daylight on a busy street in south London.

The shocking attack unfolded on Green Wrythe Lane in Carshalton yesterday morning (January 30) at around 11:30 am, with the terrifying incident caught on camera by a witness sitting in a van nearby.

According to reports, two youths dressed in black were seen sitting on an e-bike as they cornered the victim near a local shop.

The individual riding at the back jumped off, brandished a large knife, and engaged in a violent struggle with the teenager.

Although the victim initially managed to break free, the altercation continued in a park just across the road. Moments later, he was stabbed, leaving him seriously injured.

Emergency services, including officers from the Metropolitan Police, London Ambulance Service, and London’s Air Ambulance, rushed to the scene.

The teenager was treated on-site before being transported to the hospital, where he remains in a life-threatening condition.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson confirmed: “We were called at 11:30 am on Thursday, 30 January, to reports of a stabbing in Green Wrythe Lane, Carshalton.

Officers, the London Ambulance Service, and London’s Air Ambulance attended. A 17-year-old boy was taken to hospital with stab injuries.

He remains there in a critical condition.

Enquiries remain ongoing. Officers are appealing to anyone with information to call 101 and quote CAD 2789/30Jan.

A spokesperson for the London Ambulance Service added: “We were called at 11:29 am on 30 January to reports of a stabbing on Green Wrythe Lane, Carshalton.

We sent resources to the scene, including ambulance crews and a paramedic in a fast-response car. We also dispatched London’s Air Ambulance.

We treated a teenager at the scene and took him to hospital.”

The violent attack has sparked outrage among locals, with residents questioning the safety of their community.

Lauren Francis, a concerned local, expressed frustration at the ongoing knife crime epidemic, saying: “When is the Government going to crack down on this?

This is broad daylight with people going about their business, and these youths don’t even care about the consequences.”

Another resident echoed the sentiment, asking: “What is wrong with London?

Every day, another stabbing.”

The stabbing is the latest in a series of violent incidents that have plagued the capital, fueling concerns about youth crime and public safety.

Police continue to investigate, urging witnesses to come forward with any information that could assist in identifying those responsible.
