A Tesco employee is earning praise online after delivering a swift kick to a shoplifter attempting to flee with a stolen bottle of wine.
The incident unfolded at a Tesco branch on Kilburn High Road in north London, where a brazen thief in a checkered hooded jacket grabbed the bottle from the shelves.
His accomplice, wearing a green coat and white joggers, was seen clutching five bottles as they made their way toward the exit.

Despite the presence of a security guard in a high-visibility vest and two other Tesco employees nearby, no immediate action was taken to stop the pair.
As the duo briskly headed for the door, a tannoy announcement echoed through the store, cheerfully reminding customers: “Thank you for shopping at Tesco.”
The drama escalated when one of the Tesco workers, dressed in the chain’s distinctive blue uniform, decided to intervene.
Pulling out his phone to record the incident, the employee confronted the thief in the checkered jacket as he stepped outside.
In a bold move, the worker delivered a well-aimed kick to the man’s backside, prompting a startled reaction from the culprit.
The employee then pointed at him, shouting a firm “You” before the video, filmed by a bystander, ended after 11 seconds.
The clip quickly garnered attention online, with locals applauding the Tesco worker’s actions.
One commenter named Kelly simply stated, “Well done that man,” while Yusuf added: “That kick.”
Another quipped, “A kick in the a*se on the way out,” and someone humorously remarked, “Licked the thief in the bum and proceeded to say ‘see you later mate.’”
Opinions on the handling of the situation were divided.
Calvin McDonald, a former Kilburn resident, shared his nostalgic take: “Kilburn has always been a strange place.
If I were there, I’d make the thief put the item back, apologize, and depending on their attitude, let them go or hand them over to the police.”
Meanwhile, Charlie Howarth criticized the security guard, calling him “totally useless” and suggesting he should have made an effort to stop the thieves from escaping.
Tesco and the Metropolitan Police have been contacted for comment, though no statements have yet been issued.
