Two thieves brazenly stole wine from a Sainsbury’s store in Wapping, East London, marking the second incident at the same location in under two weeks.

The pair, wearing hoodies, casually loaded numerous bottles of wine into an Ikea bag-for-life, crouching in the aisle near the fridges as they filled their haul.

Witnesses, including shocked shoppers, captured the scene on their phones while store employees looked on, unable to intervene.

The thieves made no effort to conceal their identities, walking out of the store with their faces fully visible.

One bystander reportedly quipped, “Smile, you’re on camera,” before questioning staff about their lack of action, asking, “Why didn’t you hold them?”

The incident occurred on January 16 at the Sainsbury’s on Wapping Lane. Local residents expressed outrage over the apparent audacity of the crime.

Colin Lingham, a nearby resident, criticized the lack of effort to hide their identities, saying, “They don’t even bother covering their faces because they know it doesn’t matter.

This has got to stop.” Another local, Peter Reid, voiced his frustration, adding, “Makes me wonder why I bother working so hard and paying for everything.”

Theresa, a retired nurse, sarcastically remarked, “I might try that tomorrow and see how far I get,” while another onlooker named Dave joked, “Didn’t anyone think of accidentally spilling cooking oil on the floor?”

This recent theft follows a similar incident on January 5, when two other individuals targeted the same store, making off with entire boxes of chocolate, including popular treats like Dairy Milk, Twirls, Twix, and Kinder Buenos.

Sainsbury’s reported the initial theft to the police, prompting an investigation by the Metropolitan Police.

Both Sainsbury’s and law enforcement have been contacted for comment regarding the latest crime.
