Clumsy thief accidentally shoots himself during robbery

A botched robbery in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, took an unexpected turn when one of the thieves accidentally shot himself in the leg, leading to his arrest.

The suspect, along with two accomplices, arrived at a clothing store in a silver car before storming inside, where they allegedly held an employee at gunpoint in a backroom.

After securing control of the shop, the trio reportedly began loading stolen clothing into their vehicle parked outside.

However, their heist took a disastrous twist when one of the men attempted to tuck his firearm into his waistband.

CCTV footage captured the exact moment the gun discharged, sending a bullet into his own leg and splattering blood onto the floor.

The wounded suspect frantically checked his groin before hobbling out of the store.

His injury proved to be his downfall. Authorities were alerted to the crime and quickly identified one of the suspects from the surveillance footage.

Soon after, police received a report about a man behaving suspiciously at a local hospital while being treated for a gunshot wound to his leg. Investigators first tracked down the suspect spotted on camera, finding him at his home alongside the stolen merchandise.

The officers then headed to Contagem Municipal Hospital, where they questioned the injured suspect.

The 21-year-old reportedly confessed on the spot, admitting that he had unintentionally shot himself when his “finger slipped.”

He also revealed that his accomplices had abandoned him at a nearby clinic before he was transferred to the hospital.

The third suspect was eventually located and taken into custody.

All three men have since been sent to Ceresp Gameleira prison as authorities continue their investigation.
