A furious husband attacked his wife's boss with a shovel in a shocking supermarket assault caught on CCTV. The manager's phone may have saved his life!

A disgruntled supermarket worker’s husband allegedly attempted to kill her manager by striking him over the head with a shovel in a shocking attack caught on CCTV.

Security footage from the store captured Danielson Martins Paiva heading towards the gardening section, where he picked up a shovel from the display.

He then casually walked through the bustling supermarket, closing in on his target.

The victim, Claudio Soares dos Santos, was standing near a display case when Paiva, 29, seized his moment.

Swinging the shovel with force, he struck the unsuspecting manager on the back of the head.

Dos Santos, 40, immediately collapsed, his phone slipping from his grasp as he hit the hard floor.

He appeared to lose consciousness momentarily before coming to, visibly dazed and in pain.

As the injured manager lay on the ground, store employees rushed to restrain Paiva, putting him in a headlock before security escorted him away.

The attack took place on Saturday, January 18, in Sinop, a city northwest of Brasília, Brazil.

Following his arrest, Paiva reportedly told authorities that he had gone to the store intending to confront Dos Santos but, intimidated by the manager’s size, resorted to an ambush instead.

Police chief Sérgio Ribeiro condemned the attack, describing it as a cowardly act that could have easily been fatal.

“The suspect admitted that he wanted to challenge the victim but lost his nerve,” Ribeiro said.

“Instead, he struck him from behind with a potentially deadly blow.”

Paiva claimed that his wife, who works at the supermarket, had been complaining about excessive work demands and being denied leave.

Frustrated by her situation, he decided to take matters into his own hands.

Despite the severity of the assault, Dos Santos was later discharged from the hospital and is now recovering at home.

Reflecting on the terrifying ordeal, he revealed that his phone, which was in his pocket at the time of the attack, may have saved his life.

“I never imagined something like this could happen,” Dos Santos told local media.

“I wasn’t released from the hospital until late Sunday.

He really wanted to kill me, but my phone took the brunt of the impact.

It shattered inside my ear, and I needed stitches, but without it, the damage could have been much worse.”

Paiva appeared in court the following day, January 19, where he was remanded into custody.

He now faces charges of attempted murder.
