A tragic incident in Thailand has claimed the life of a 15-year-old girl, who was electrocuted while using her mobile phone as it charged.

The teenager had connected a Type C charging cable to an old extension cord plugged into the wall socket.

While sitting on the floor using her phone, she suffered a fatal electric shock.

Her mother, initially believing that her daughter had simply dozed off next to her phone, made the heartbreaking discovery when she tried to wake her.

Realizing what had happened, she quickly turned off the electricity in the house, but it was already too late.

The girl was pronounced dead on March 7 in Sikhoraphum District, Surin Province.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene but were only able to confirm the teen’s passing.

Police later examined the charging setup and noted that the cable appeared to have burn marks, while the extension cord was frayed and had been patched up with tape.

Investigators suspect that the faulty wiring led to the fatal electrocution, according to reports from vknews24.

An autopsy has been conducted to determine the precise cause of death.

In response to the incident, Thai authorities have urged the public to take precautions when charging their devices.

They advised against using mobile phones while they are plugged in and stressed the importance of checking cables for signs of wear.

Residents were also warned to inspect plug sockets and surrounding walls for moisture, which could increase the risk of electric shock.

The investigation into the girl’s death remains ongoing.
