Woman Vanishes Into Manhole Right After Leaving Tuk-Tuk

A woman in Peru had a terrifying near miss when she vanished into a manhole just seconds after stepping out of a tuk-tuk.

CCTV footage captured the shocking moment in Ancón, Lima, on February 17, as she exited the back seat of the auto-rickshaw with her small pet dog.

As she walked away from the vehicle, she inadvertently stepped onto a manhole cover that unexpectedly flipped 90 degrees, instantly plunging her into the open shaft.

Her helpless pooch stood at the edge, watching as she disappeared underground.

Within moments, the rickshaw driver and several bystanders rushed to the scene.

One person carefully led the small dog away from the dangerously exposed hole, while another quickly called for assistance.

A third individual arrived about a minute later with a ladder, which was lowered into the chamber to help the woman escape.

Fortunately, she managed to climb out on her own.

While it’s unclear if she required medical attention, local reports suggest she suffered only minor injuries.

The manhole, reportedly a telecom access chamber, was believed to have been covered with a temporary lid.

Just a week earlier, the same CCTV camera had captured two thieves stealing its original cover, raising questions about safety and maintenance in the area.

It remains uncertain whether authorities are investigating the incident or if action will be taken to prevent similar accidents in the future.
